The Diocese of Des Moines is accepting applications for a Director of Worship. This position serves as a primary resource to the Bishop and diocese for liturgical life and formation of the Church. Additional responsibilities include managing and directing diocesan worship activities; preparing diocesan liturgies;providing consultation,resources, andworkshops; and developing and administering programs of liturgical formation consistent with diocesan policies, goals and guidelines. Master’s degree in liturgical studies or theology and four to five years pastoral experience preferred. Practicing Catholic with extensive knowledge of Roman Catholic doctrine, Church law and religious and liturgical programs and services that would be acquired through one to three years of related experience.

Diocesan Worship Office Director
DIRECTOR OF WORSHIP – The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph is in search of an experienced and visionary individual to provide continuing leadership in the Diocesan Office of Worship. We are seeking a skilled and experienced leader. The selected individual must be an active practicing Catholic who supports the authentic Magisterium and is ready to work with parishes, other agencies and offices of the Church to oversee Diocesan initiatives of education in and implementation of Catholic liturgy. The Diocesan Worship Office Director will work with the Bishop, priests, parishioners, board, staff, and volunteers to develop and implement strategic plans, inspire and motivate all constituents to work on established goals, conduct public speaking and educational opportunities to parishioners, employees and constituents of the Church and provide Catholic centered worship leadership to all diocesan parishes and schools.
Qualifications
- A Masters degree preferred in Liturgical Studies or Theology and/or at least five years of demonstrated organizational and program experience, preferably at the Program Director or Executive Director level.
- Competent musical abilities as a practicing musician and teacher are desirable.
- A competent knowledge of Catholic theology and worship doctrine.
- A demonstrated commitment to Catholic teachings and practice.
- Proven organizing and leadership skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal and relational skills.
- History of direct staff management experience.
- Skilled at building bridges between diverse groups, interests and constituencies.
- Solid computer competencies.

Tenure-Track Position in Liturgy
SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE OF SAINT BENEDICT announce a tenure-track position in liturgy with teaching responsibility in both the undergraduate Department of Theology and the graduate School of Theology•Seminary to begin August, 2009. The successful candidate must be competent to teach the history and theology of Roman Catholic sacramental and liturgical traditions while including the liturgical traditions of other churches as appropriate for an ecumenical student body. The candidate must be able to teach Pastoral Liturgy, particularly in the practical and ritual aspects of the liturgical life of the Roman Catholic Church. Preference will be given to Roman Catholic candidates able to teach in one or more of the following areas: liturgy and the arts (including music), liturgy and culture, liturgy and social justice, liturgy and law, preaching.
Candidates will also be expected to teach an introductory undergraduate theology course with a strong emphasis on scripture.
Candidates must be able to work in support of the Roman Catholic, Benedictine mission of the institutions. Ph.D. or equivalent expected. Rank negotiable.

Faculty Position in Worship and Liturgics
Responsibilities: The person filling this faculty position will have the responsibility of designing and teaching introductory and advanced courses in worship in all three of the seminary's degree programs (MATS, MDiv and DMin). He or she will participate in providing leadership for the worship life of the seminary community. He or she will also be expected to actively participate in appropriate academic guilds.
Qualifications: This faculty appointment calls for competence in the history, theology and practice of worship. The person called to this position should possess demonstrated teaching skills and a strong commitment to teaching and research. The candidate should possess a Ph.D. or its equivalent in the field of liturgics or related field, or be completing a dissertation. The person should be knowledgeable in worship in the Reformed tradition and open to a broad range of worship styles. Pastoral experience in a local congregation is desirable, as is teaching experience at the graduate level. It is expected that the candidate will have promise of making significant scholarly contributions to the field of liturgics and be able to work effectively with local congregations and church governing bodies.

Faculty Position in Liturgical Studies
Church Divinity School of the Pacific seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in liturgical studies. The instructor will have primary teaching responsibility for courses introducing the study of worship and sacramental theology, with emphasis on the breadth of the Anglican tradition and the Episcopal Church.
Candidates should be prepared to teach within the ecumenical and interfaith setting of the Graduate Theological Union at both the M.Div. and Ph.D. levels of instruction. We seek a scholar who bridges the line between the academy and the church, and a teacher who can engage students in the task of relating liturgical studies to life and ministry in a changing church and world.
Candidates should hold the M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees or their equivalents. They should be steeped in a knowledge of the Anglican tradition and conversant with the life of and changes in the Episcopal Church. They should demonstrate interest and ability in original theological thought, coupled with the practice of liturgy in congregational settings. Engagement with cross-disciplinary approaches and the cultural contexts of liturgy are important. Christian commitment and practice, accessibility to students, a concern for professional theological education, and the capacity to work in a collegial style are significant assets.
Candidates should possess an integrated understanding of the different aspects of theological education, and be willing and able to work with colleagues in all aspects of graduate professional theological education, including continuing education and electronic forms of education.

with a specialization in Christian Worship.
Teaching and research interest in at least one other area of pastoral studies (e.g., music, congregational life, Christian formation) would be an asset. Applicants require an earned ThD/PhD (or equivalent degree) in pastoral studies, completed or near completion; demonstrated experience and competence in congregational worship leadership; and knowledge and critical appreciation of the worship practices and ethos of The United Church of Canada. The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced/elective courses in Christian public worship and other area(s) of pastoral studies as appropriate to training and interests, collaborate in the integrative teaching program of the college, and participate in ongoing academic research and the administrative life of the college and the Saskatoon Theological Union.
