Sister Mary Anthony Wagner OSB

At St. Benedict's Monastery, St. Joseph, MN, Sister Mary Anthony Wagner died unexpectedly on September 18, 2002. Her contributions to monastic life were well known, especially her leadership of the Benedictine Institute for Sacred Theology, which promoted the theological education of Benedictine women. It later became the graduate school of theology of Saint John's University, with Sister Mary Anthony as dean. She was also editor of Sisters Today, and was a leader in the recent renewal within the oblate movement.

Personal Note
From Sr. Helene Mercier, OSB

While Sister Mary Anthony Wagner OSB was not a member of the North American Academy of Liturgy she was well known by many liturgy students at Saint John's University, Collegeville MN. She had been Assistant to the Dean of the School of Theology for many years.

The wake service was at Saint Benedict’s Monastery (St. Joseph MN) at 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 24th,
followed by visitation. The funeral was in the Monastery chapel at 4 p.m., Wednesday, September 25th.

I am sure you will miss Sister Mary Anthony as we will; however, we can hold each other in prayer during this time.

Blessings and peace,
Sr. Helene Mercier, OSB
